Kyle recently went for his 2 year checkup, and because he still isn’t talking the pediatrician recommended that we apply for ‘early intervention’, which is a state run program that provides low cost speech and other therapies to children who are developmentally delayed. Until today I had been fairly sure that he was just taking … Continue reading »
I’m today’s featured mom on Parent du Jour!
Check it out here. Parent du Jour is a great website I came across that is profiling parents from around the world, some very interesting reading!
My baby is now a toddler!
Today Kyle turned 2, officially ending the baby years. He still isn’t talking but it feels like he is on the verge of it. When we were contemplating our second child we never dreamed it would go the way it did – extremely difficult pregnancy, and then even worse, finding out he was going to … Continue reading »
I’m a domestic diva?!
Lately I’ve rediscovered my love of baking, and added ice-cream making to the mix. I was inspired by the Georgetown Cupcakes book to make these lemon swirl cupcakes, which I put my own spin on with a little lemon curd swirl on top. This week it’s been ice-cream, inspired by a book I picked up … Continue reading »
I made a good decision – finally!
It’s been about a month since Kiki started taking the ADD meds, and so far she’s been doing great. In fact, I’ve never seen her so happy. The biggest turnaround has been in her ability to self-start. She has always struggled when left to come up with her own project, whether it’s a story, or … Continue reading »
I medicated my kid. And I’m not ashamed.
Kiki started her new ADD meds this week. So far they seem to be working ok, she has been a lot less impulsive and she has been able to focus much more. We’ll see how it works out at school this next week. I haven’t told many people about her ADD diagnosis, but those I … Continue reading »
Ditching my iPhone has been an epiphany
A couple of months ago my husband got an iPhone from work, and since we only had a few months left on our contract, we decided to cancel our iPhones and I got a cheap phone from Virgin Mobile. I was so nervous that I would be lost without it, but it’s actually been quite … Continue reading »
I have news. Good and bad.
The good news is that we’re making some progress with Kiki. We’re meeting her doctor next week to discuss ADD meds, and while I’m not thrilled about having her on medication, I’m excited for what it could mean for her if they help. Sadly it’s all coming too late for the 2012-13 school year. I … Continue reading »
I’m sick!
Ugh I’ve been so sick this week! I haven’t been to the gym, I’ve barely even left the house. I really hope I feel better tomorrow. I think I may have put back on all the weight I lost in the last 6 weeks with my boredom eating!
I’m hoping I might be a loser!
I recently joined a gym, that runs a contest every year called the 90 day challenge. Basically whoever loses the most weight (by %), of all the people that signed up, wins a years free membership and some cash, and then there is a national competition with a larger prize. While I’m not holding out … Continue reading »
